Readers' Choice Awards 2011

Buy Local! Shop Small!

For over a dozen years the North Shore News has provided their readers with an opportunity to vote on their favourite local businesses in their annual Readers’ Choice awards program. From dry cleaners to day care centres to retailers and restaurants, this program recognizes local excellence in selection and service as chosen by the people who call North and West Vancouver home.

Numerous Edgemont Village retailers have, thanks to you, shone in this event and taken home many, many awards. This kind of acknowledgement is very meaningful in todays retail landscape, and as a barometer of how we doing, and how we can do better.

We have been very proud to wear the mantle of North Shore’s Favourite Neighbourhood for several consecutive years and have been extraordinarily honoured to be distinguished for our Evenings in Edgemont Summer Concerts and our other festivals. We hope to be recognised for all our community involvement and appreciated for our fantastic Car Show, our Christmas display, our great Halloween, and all our other merchant driven, sponsored events.

We truly appreciate your loyalty; your continued support of us throughout the year; and if you continue to love what we do, we would love your votes!

This year’s ballots are out now! You can vote in person through the North Shore News’ ballots, or at their website.

Thank You, the Edgemont Village Business Association

Seasonal Events

Harvest Festival This free, village-wide street fair sees the community packed with 5000 attendees who come to enjoy a variety of family-friendly, all-day events. From bands on the main stage, to Irish dancers, a ventriloquist, or The Extreme bike show with Dangerous Dan — there’s something for everyone.

Christmas in The Village Come December, Edgemont Village transforms into a winter wonderland. Each Christmas, we decorate our distinctive, red lamp standards to resemble giant candy canes and light the trees on the street corners and boulevards. Carolers line the streets, Santa makes an annual stop for a day of photos with kids (and pets!) and community contests add to the buzz.

Evenings in Edgemont As surely as summer arrives, so does live music come to Edgemont Village on Friday nights throughout July and August. This joint initiative with the Parks and Recreation Commission has been a resounding success from its first note 9 summers ago. Here, in our extremely beautiful natural setting, we are able to present the sounds of 8 diverse, professional bands for families to enjoy while spending time with their friends and neighbours right in the heart of the village. Attendance at these evenings has grown to average 1200 to 1500 or more; the series finale in August, at which we share the evening with Public Dreams Society and the Wild Lights festival, has attracted attendees of up to 5000.
