Christmas in the Village 2011
“I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas…”
If you close your eyes just a little and look down the street, what do you see but two blocks of twinkling 36 foot candy canes that might make you think you are in the North Pole. Just near that famous workshop, but you are actually in Edgemont Village all dressed up for holidays.
Our individual business merchants take great pride in merchandising for this most special season. Pulling out all the stops, store after store offering only the best and most unique products for even the most discerning on your list. From the whimsical to practical, functional to just outright luxurious, you can solve all your gift giving in this service oriented shopping neighborhood.
While most of you are still making a list & checking it twice, we would like to remind you to “Buy Local and Shop Small”.
As you move through the Village be sure to take a moment to enjoy our Handsworth Student Musicians as they do their best to spread some Holiday Joy & Spirit throughout the neighbourhood. Should you feel inclined to join them in song or “bust-a-move”, please feel free; The more spirit, the merrier!
Seasonal treats, flavours, sounds and atmosphere abound in this delightful neighborhood. If it’s
on your wish list. Look no further!
From our Merchants and our Business Association to you, and your families…Have a very Merry Christmas!

Harvest Festival This free, village-wide street fair sees the community packed with 5000 attendees who come to enjoy a variety of family-friendly, all-day events. From bands on the main stage, to Irish dancers, a ventriloquist, or The Extreme bike show with Dangerous Dan — there’s something for everyone.
Christmas in The Village Come December, Edgemont Village transforms into a winter wonderland. Each Christmas, we decorate our distinctive, red lamp standards to resemble giant candy canes and light the trees on the street corners and boulevards. Carolers line the streets, Santa makes an annual stop for a day of photos with kids (and pets!) and community contests add to the buzz.
Evenings in Edgemont As surely as summer arrives, so does live music come to Edgemont Village on Friday nights throughout July and August. This joint initiative with the Parks and Recreation Commission has been a resounding success from its first note 9 summers ago. Here, in our extremely beautiful natural setting, we are able to present the sounds of 8 diverse, professional bands for families to enjoy while spending time with their friends and neighbours right in the heart of the village. Attendance at these evenings has grown to average 1200 to 1500 or more; the series finale in August, at which we share the evening with Public Dreams Society and the Wild Lights festival, has attracted attendees of up to 5000.
